Today's Love

Today's Love is...

Urban Original Military/Hiking Boot

Since yesterday's Today's Love was rather pricey, I decided to post something that is crazy reasonable today. I loving pairing military accents with this season's ladylike fashions. These brown (or black) hiking and military-inspired boots are super comfy, and they go with everything. At only $27, there is nothing not to love. Check them out at urbanog.com

Inspired by... Faux Fur

I absolutely adore all the faux fur on the Fall/Winer runways this year. It's warm, comfortable, completely humane, and undeniably chic. A jacket, bag, or shoe embellished with the fabric is instantly modernized and fashion-ified (I know that's not a word, but bear with me). And a faux fur piece can make a boring outfit exciting when I have no time for a complicated look.

One great thing about this trend is that there are great pieces both from high end and low end stores. My personal favorite faux fur pieces from high fashion designer's were made by Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. Lagerfeld achieved the difficult feat of making both edgy, punk-esque, rebellious knits and romantic, ladylike, classic, sophisticated furs in one collection. Check out some gorgeous Chanel coats below.

If you're like me, then unfortunately you just can't afford those mouth-wateringly beautiful Chanel pieces, no matter how much you wish for them. Do not despair! Because faux fur is just that, faux, it isn't too expensive to make, and thus there are great pieces available from cheaper stores. Some of my favorites are this cozy and chic brown vest from urban outfitters and this great-fitting and surprisingly-expensive-looking jacket from forever 21.

Rebel Yell

Hello everyone, anyone,

I want this blog to be about what I like and dislike, culture and fashion-wise. But I also want it to be about who I am. I want you to know me, in a different way than that of the people who know me in my real life. For you, I want to be who I WISH I was. So, I am going to make a list of five 'rebellious' (rebellious for me) things I want to do in September, that will introduce you to the me I want to be. I'll inform you on how my attempt turns out. Wish me luck...

1. Wear something to school that I would normally feel was too 'out-there.'
2. Attend a school dance, and actually DANCE.
3. Stay out too late.
4. Wear something too short.
5. If I'm angry, TELL the person I'm angry at.

I know, I know. None of these are really very rebellious, in the normal sense of the word. But as you have robably guessed based on this list, I am not a rebelliosu person. I am an average, prudish, nerdy girl, and PROUD OF IT. But that doesnt mean i don't want to branch out into the world of bad-assness (or ATTEMPTED, diluted, watered down bad-assness. )

If this part of the blog bores you, because it doesn't have much to do with the rest of the blog, so feel free to skip it. If you are interested, don't worry, ill keep you updated!

Love,
Your trying-to-be-wild Girl

Today's Love

Today I Love...

Hello Readers!

Today I'm creating a daily feature for my blog called Today's Love. Once a day, I'll post an item of clothing that I absolutely love. It might be cheap or expensive, old or new, light or dark. It might be anything. I hope you enjoy!

So, my inaugurative Today's Love is...

This Proenza Schouler Fall/Winter Ready to Wear look, specifically the gorgeous cropped chunky fair isle knit pullover. I'm loving the chunky knit look this season, and Proenza Schouler's innovative cropped version rebelliously paired with shredded jeans is no exception. True, its out of my price range, but a girl can dream!

Inspired by...The Runaways

The Runaways were the innovative all-girl rock band that started a musical revolution in the 1940s. I love their bad-ass style, their rebellious lyrics, and the attitude in all their songs. Recently, a movie was made about the journeys of Joan Jett (played by Kristen Stewart) and Cheri Currie (Dakota Fanning) during their time in the band. Both actresses are superb, and although i expect great acting from the talented Fanning, i was surprised at how well she pulled of Cherie's good girl turned rocker vibe. To my even greater surprise, Kristen Stewart can ACT. This movie was a big leap from looking angsty and brooding for two straight hours during the Twilight movies, and she pulled it off. Both Fanning and Stewart were able to encompass Currie's and Jett's attitudes when they sang in the movie.

But back to the real band. Although they broke up after four years, their music is still as great as when i came out, and they have had a lasting impact on the music industry. One of my personal favorite songs is called Cherry Bomb.
In it, Currie sings rocker-rebel laden lyrics that one can't resist singing along to (very loudly and off-tune, if one is me) such as:

Can't stay at home, can't stay at school
Old folks say, ya poor little fool
Down the street I'm the girl next door
I'm the fox you've been waiting for

*Hello Daddy, hello Mom
I'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb
Hello world I'm your wild girl
I'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb

Stone age love and strange sounds too
Come on baby let me get to you
Bad nights cause'n teenage blues
Get down ladies you've got nothing to lose

Check out their music and tell me what you think.
If you fall in love, you can get this shirt at urban outfitters for only ten bucks.

Inspired by...Gossip Girl

If I want you out there to know me, you need to know one of my faults: I watch way too much TV. One of my favorite shows is Gossip Girl. It has everything I love: fashion, New York City, drama galore, friendships, and a Beautiful, chemistry-laden relationship to root for (Chuck and Blair forever!). From adding flair to high school uniforms to creating their own style personas at college (classy and always on-trend on Blair's part, rocker-raccoon for Jenny, and anything to accentuate her boobs for Serena), the fashion is always interesting and exciting, as are the scandal-ridden plotlines. And the acting isn't half bad. Check it out if you love drama, scandal, or romance...or if you want to check out the insanely sexy Ed Westwick.

What do you think of the show?

you know you love me
xoxo,
I wish I was Gossip Girl

Hello World

Hello World,

I'm Emmeline, and I am attempting (attempting is the operative word here) to start a blog. I want this blog to about things that inspire me, an average high school girl. I know the title is somewhat cheesy, but don't give up on me yet. I want to make this blog anything but. I am pretty average, as I have already mentioned, but I won't let this blog be average. And I don't want to be average anymore either. I'm going to tell you what I think, what I like, and what I want. I am going to be...I am not sure what the word should be, so for now I will use: wild. In the first few posts, I will try to introduce you to me- and i'm warning you I'm not exactly the wild girl I want to be. But i will post any and all wild opinions, likes, dislikes, and thoughts i have on here. If you read this blog, you will see posts about fashion, music, art, books, and random things I take a liking to. I don't know if anyone will read this blog, but I hope someone does, and they whoever they are, they enjoy it. So, enjoy! And stick around for a bit, if you'd like.
